Patrick Bertoletti Named 'Chock full o'Nuts World Date Nut Bread Eating Champion'

It's Official! Patrick Bertoletti took home the title of Chock full o'Nuts World Date Nut Bread Eating Champion and $2,500 at the eating competition held today in New York. Bertoletti, a Chicagoan who holds the world title for eating the most ice cream, chocolate and key lime pie, consumed 29 1/2 Chock full o'Nuts famous date nut bread and cream cheese sandwiches in eight minutes -- that is approximately 3.7 sandwiches per minute.

Joey Chestnut of San Jose, CA was not far behind in second place with 26 sandwiches and Humble Bob Shoudt of Royersford, PA ate 18 3/4 for third place. Juliet Lee of Germantown, MD, the only female in the competition, finished an impressive fifth in the field of ten eaters that included locals Crazy Legs Conti and Tim Janus of New York, NY; Bill Myers of Brenigsville, PA; Justin Mih of Boston, MA; Arturo Rios Grande of Long Branch, NJ and Erik Denmark of Seattle, WA. The contest was overseen by the International Federation of Competitive Eating Commissioner and official judge, Hungry Charles Hardy.
