Raleigh, NC - December 22, 2011 -- For the past 3 years, PPM, Inc. has organized the efforts of all their employees and vendors to collect donations of food and money to help the Triangle’s less fortunate families.

Over the last two months, the donations collected by PPM totaled more than 48,000 servings of food and $4,000 cash.

"Several weeks ago, we heard the Tri-Area Ministry Food Bank in Wake Forest was short on supplies, because of the need generated by Hurricane Irene. With their need, and with the holidays upon us, we thought it was a perfect opportunity to give back," said Jenny Burns with PPM.

"Throughout this holiday season, we’ve been able to deliver multiple loads of donated food to Tri-Area Ministries. We’ve also organized the efforts of several volunteers to help unload, sort and distribute the food to our needy neighbors right here in the Triangle."

“This is the third year we’ve spearheaded this effort and we’re so pleased at the results,” Burns said. “It far exceeded our expectations and it’s been a heartwarming experience for our volunteers.”

About Tri-Area Ministry Food Bank

The Tri-Area Ministry Food Bank is the only food bank in the Wake Forest area, and is completely volunteer run. Tri-Area gets much of its food from the NC Food Bank, but recently those supplies have been going to Eastern NC and the Outer Banks. The Tri-Area Food Bank serves about 700 low-income families and last month they were almost out of food.
