Surrey, United Kingdom, (4th November, 2011) - Elusion UK, retailers of The Elusion Electronic Cigarette, a smoke-free alternative to traditional cigarettes, reveal that their products are featuring in the world's largest e-Cigarette clinical trials this year.

In order to evaluate the effectiveness of e-cigarettes as a 'stop smoking' aid, the Clinical Trials Research Unit based in Auckland, NZ is carrying out research to ascertain whether electronic cigarettes are just as or more helpful for quitting smoking than nicotine patches and placebos.

This trial will involve a three-arm parallel group, where participants are split into groups which either use e-cigarettes for twelve weeks after quitting; nicotine patches for twelve weeks; or placebo e-cigarettes for twelve weeks. Quit rates are set to be assessed at 3 and 6 months after the quit date to decipher which is most effective.

"This study, founded by the prestigious Health Research Council of New Zealand, will demonstrate how effective products such as the Elusion Electronic Cigarette are for people trying to quit smoking for good," commented a spokesperson for Elusion UK. "We are delighted to be involved in this informative study and are very interested to see the results."
