LE SUEUR, Minn., Sept. 30, 2011 -- Friendly Confines Cheese Shoppe, a division of family owned, food ingredient company, Davisco Foods International, Inc., announced today a new sandwich would be featured on its menu, just in time for Oktoberfest. The cheese shoppe, named after Wrigley Field, offers a variety of "baseball themed" pizza specials, served hot from a brick oven.

The "Catcher's Mitt" sandwich made on authentic German pretzel-bread, features special tomato sauce, award- winning cheeses and a variety of fresh toppings. The most popular "Catcher's Mitt" is the "Grand Slam," loaded with world renowned Italian sausage, beef, pepperoni, and imported Canadian bacon. The sandwich, topped with fresh cut vegetables, including roma tomatoes, red onions, peppers, mushrooms, and black and green olives, brings people from around the state of Minnesota to the cheese shoppe. Sean Kortuem is in the transportation field from St. Cloud, MN, and drives over 2 hours just to get his hands on the famous pretzel-bread sandwich. "I absolutely love the taste of the pretzel-bread. It is grilled to perfection with just the right amount of sauce and toppings!"

Kirk Litynski, the cheese store's manager, explains why he launched the sandwich to correspond with Oktoberfest. "We want to offer a different take on Oktoberfest, by celebrating the German heritage, with pretzel-bread shipped all the way from Germany!" Le Sueur's cheese shoppe is the only retail store in southern Minnesota to offer a hot sandwich, served on such unique bread.

The Friendly Confines Cheese Shoppe, which opened in December 2009, not only offers hot pizza and sandwiches, but it also offers cheeses from all over the world. "Our mission is offering fine cheese styles to the community and to enhance the knowledge and taste of them," says Litynski.

After almost 2 years of business, the store continues to be a "home run" in Le Sueur. The cheese shoppe hopes the "Catcher's Mitts" go flying out the door this month, in honor of Oktoberfest.
