The software from ServerPulse needs no server-side installation because all the commands are executed remotely. The system uses the key authentication feature to adopt an agent-free approach. The software needs a Unix distribution system that runs a Secure Shell (SSH) to function. There are many advantages that this software has like displaying real-time web-based statistical data output, collecting accurate and detailed server statistics over SSH using an agent-free approach, etc. Created by Ian Purton, a professional programmer for over fifteen years now in various languages like C, C++, Java and an expert in configuring Linux-based operating systems, this software enables data display on screens that are populated with useful information like server-related live statistics, live jobs through the server running in the background, historic data and graphs, disk space monitoring and disk capacity display, indicators and signals when memory, load or bandwidth limits are exceeded and server-side critical statistics and alerts.

If the user needs more granular data and comprehensive information, they also have an option to drill down at the server level where they have access to all the required server-related statistics that include, but are not limited to TCP/IP ports and pages. This Linux Server Performance Monitoring software can also predict memory and is designed to display information regarding the total bandwidth usage. Data regarding load trends on a daily, weekly and a yearly basis are also tracked by the software in the form of graphs. Each monitor type can be configured using it and additional features like public key authentication that allow the user to generate a per server public key ensure maximum server security. Apart from minute on minute resolution, the software can also display updated server information every ten seconds. This minute and per ten second granularity allows the user to track real-time issues as soon as they occur.

While most kinds of server performance monitoring software do not integrate the feature of alert escalation, this software can also be used in the configuration process for alert escalations. These alerts enable functions like alerting managers within an hour of downtime and contacting support within the first five minutes of any kind of server-related problem.
