With the growing rate of interest on home loans, many areas expect to see the housing bubble deflate. Real estate in the Park City area, however, does not seem to be slowing down.

“It may affect us slightly,” said Michael Kermizis, realtor for Park City and the surrounding areas, “but it won’t affect us as much as if we were in a normal metropolis.”

Park City real estate is unique, as it was a secondary home market that has blossomed into a primary home market. Kermizis says technology is to thank. “People can work from anywhere in the world now. There’s so much that we can do with the Internet. We can work from our homes now. People can work from Park City.”

Kermizis says that because of the proximity to Salt Lake City, and new businesses being brought to the state, real estate in Park City’s surrounding areas is seeing a boom as well. “We still need to have affordable housing. That’s why our surrounding areas continue to explode with median priced homes. We have developers that are offering a lifestyle that the average person can still afford, that is a place they want to live, instead of being in a subdivision, they are in a community.”

Real estate near Park City, especially The Canyons real estate, is very different from other resort towns. Real estate near The Canyons and in Park City has the benefit of being near a major metropolis, making it a logical choice for a primary or secondary home ownership. “There are people who work full time three days a week in California and three days a week in Park City,” said Kermizis. “There’s accessibility to the airport and international flights. You don’t have that with the smaller ski towns in Idaho or Colorado.”

Kermizis works as a broker for Premiere Mountain Properties, in Park City, Utah. He delivers what many brokers shy away from: honesty. “Since I started in realty in 1992, I have been a firm believer in the idea that knowledge is power. I have done everything in my power to become more knowledgeable. I won’t sell you something if I can see it’s not well built.”

Kermizis knows whether real estate in Park City, or real estate near The Canyons is well built. “I have built and designed 39 homes. I know about construction and design, so I can be honest with my customers.”
