The Metropolitan Postcard Club of New York City will host its Fall 2010 International Postcard Show & Sale on Friday, November 12th thru Sunday, Nov 14th at the Hotel New Yorker, 34th St & 8th Avenue. Friday 12 Noon until 7:00 PM, Saturday 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM, and Sunday 11:00 AM until 4:30 PM. Admission is $7.00. A 3-day Weekend Pass is $10:00. More than 35 dealers from all over the world will be exhibiting & selling over two million postcards, all neatly categorized by subject and location.

This show is a perfect event for those looking for a meaningful holiday gift for a good price. By mounting an antique postcard that has an image of a favorite animal, place, person, sport, or image, you will be giving an original gift that comes from the heart- and from history.

Among the highlights of this year's show will be:

An exhibition of postcards depicting "New York's Hometown Heroes". This exhibit brings to life the long gone baseball heroes and stadiums from the 40's & 50's Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Giants and Yankees. How many will you recognize at first glance? Come and cheer for your home teams.

A vividly illustrated PowerPoint presentation by Robert Bogdon the range of relationships between humans & animals that are revealed on real photo postcards. He is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Syracuse University and his just-published book is titled "Beauty and the Beast". The presentation will begin at 10 AM on Sunday, November 14th.

"Postcards are that rare commodity, affordable contemporaneous images from the past 100 years," says Joan Kay, Metro Club president. "Some postcards can be quite valuable but most are still inexpensive. Whatever topic or view you're looking for, you can be certain that you'll find the rarest early images of it at the International Postcard Show. Browsing is free and encouraged."

The Metropolitan Postcard Club of New York City was founded in 1946 and is the oldest continuously-run postcard club in the United States. Members receive discounted admission to the Show.
