With the number of older adults in Maryland continuing to grow, recent staff changes will enable the AARP in Maryland to expand its activities and strengthen its profile statewide.

Tiffany M. Lundquist has been named Associate State Director for Communications. In this role, Lundquist will work with the media and with volunteer and staff colleagues to raise the organization's profile in the state and promote AARP Maryland's advocacy, community service and outreach efforts. A graduate of DePauw University, Lundquist has extensive experience in non-profit marketing and communications, including positions with Loyola College and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Most recently, she was Project Manager with a prominent Baltimore marketing and graphic design firm.

"Tiffany's diverse communications background and her passion for helping others live better lives make her an asset to AARP," said Joe DeMattos, State Director for AARP Maryland.

Also new to AARP Maryland, Jennifer Holz has been hired as Program Assistant. Holz will support the office's efforts in community outreach and volunteer recruitment, retention and recognition. She has a degree in Communications Studies from the University of Maryland.

Sarah Shepard has been promoted from Program Assistant to Program Coordinator, and will now oversee integrated public campaigns on issues such as accessible housing for older Marylanders. She will also take on additional responsibility for maximizing volunteer resources. Shepard has a BS from Evangel University and has been with the AARP office since 2005.

"At this important time in Maryland, with so many opportunities for AARP to further its mission of creating positive social change, we are fortunate to have a talented and passionate team of volunteers and staff," said DeMattos. "With this team in place, we are in a position to make a difference on important issues that will allow all Maryland residents to age with dignity, and to continue to contribute to the fabric of the Maryland community."

AARP has more than 819,000 members in Maryland and recently announced its 37 millionth member nationwide.
