The team that fascinated children with Coomacka Island: The Story of Spider & Ant is back with their second book, Coomacka Island: Anansi Jr. and the Mango Truck. The second book, also rich in values and morals, adds another layer of vividness to the mysterious fantasy island located deep in the heart of the Caribbean Sea.

In September, Coomacka Island took center stage at Kings Plaza Shopping Mall in Brooklyn, NY for Kings Kids Day. Parents and children delighted in Caribbean oriented craft activities, dance and hula-hoop contests, coloring illustrations by Darnel Degand, and storytelling by author Don P. Hooper.

"The highlight for me was some time between 1pm and 2pm. We were holding our second storybook reading and the children and parents all gathered round and listened attentively. The children showed off their listening skills and intelligence by answering questions related to The Story of Spider & Ant. One child even expressed sympathy for Anansi Jr. Spider by citing that he, too, was afraid of the dark. During the subsequent Hula Hoop and Dance competitions I looked up at the second floor of the mall to see a massive audience clapping and cheering the children on. I will always remember that day." – Don Hooper

The creative duo has big plans for their mythical brainchild, including school readings, a third book scheduled for release Spring 2007 and their first animated pilot slated for release Spring 2008.
