Los Angeles, California - The opportunity to supply fiber optics in Latin America comes down to bandwidth demand. Despite the fluctuating economy, bandwidth demand is growing and will continue to grow and OpticFit accepts this challenge as a great opportunity.

A new report reveals that Latin America is emerging from a period of pulling itself up by its telecom bootstraps. Lately, most major telecommunications markets in the region have been opened to competition. Governments have imposed teledensity and level-of-service requirements for providers which have transformed Latin American telecommunications from a hodgepodge of individual programs to a cohesive region-wide infrastructure.

Because of this transformation, Latin America now presents attractive opportunities for fiber optics providers. The slow deployment of metropolitan buildout and the worsening economy have driven the providers to work twice as hard in the development of telecommunications in the region.

The report finds the installed base of single-mode fiber in Latin America will rise to 30.6 million fiber-km in 2006 from 15.7 million in 2000. Cumulative deployment in the region will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 12 percent. The research includes profiles of each of the six major markets in the region: Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Chile and Ecuador, as well as profiles of the telco, cable TV and utility carriers serving those markets. Regional sections are included.

"OptiFit is very pleased that it will be providing industry standard fiber optics to neighboring Latin America. This venture bears evidence to the company's commitment as a leading provider of the right technology products and services to best meet our customers' unique needs. By supplying the bandwidth demand of Latin America, we are looking forward to become a worldwide leading provider of quality, yet affordable fiber optics," said Peter Dulay, CEO and Director of OpticFit.

The Los Angeles based leading provider of technology solutions has committed to supplying not only the buildout of infrastructures, but more importantly the demand of a higher bandwidth for the emerging Latin American countries.
