A passionate advocate for senior issues and healthy aging, SCAN Health Plan Arizona President Tom Lescault co-hosts "Senior Focus" every other Saturday morning on KOY-1230AM. Along with Dee Dee Sturr, host and producer of the "Valley Views" show, Lescault interviews local experts on various topics of interest for seniors.

"'Senior Focus' is about seniors, for seniors and reflective of seniors' interests," said Lescault, who also is president of the Arizona Association of Health Plans. "We want to hear from our listeners and find out what issues are important to them that they'd like discussed on our show."

This week's "Senior Focus" will host Dr. Paul Bendheim, chairman and CEO of BrainSavers LLC, a locally based company that helps baby boomers and older adults reduce the risk of age-associated memory problems and Alzheimer's disease with its brain-and-body lifestyle program. A veteran researcher in Alzheimer's and related disorders, Dr. Bendheim will discuss how brain-healthy nutrition, memory and brain exercises, and physical exercise influence healthy mental aging. The show airs Saturday, Sept. 12, at 7:30 a.m. on KOY-1230AM.

Recent past shows featured Michelle Donati from AAA who discussed driving safety; Mary Lynn Kasunic from the Area Agency on Aging regarding valley-wide programs for seniors; and Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard, who shared information about the "Senior Sleuths" program to help seniors protect themselves and others from becoming victims of fraud and abuse.

The "Senior Focus" show is part of SCAN's ongoing commitment to improving the lives of seniors. The health plan is the exclusive studio sponsor for KOY radio, which began broadcasting from SCAN Health Plan Studios in July. It is also the exclusive sponsor of "Healthy Tips for Successful Aging" with ABC 15. Each week, the station airs 30-second health tips provided by SCAN.
