A new service to provide temporary construction staff and engineering staff to support UK and international projects - such as Thames Gateway and the London Olympics project - around the clock 27-7, has been launched by UK recuitment entrepreneur Penny Streeter OBE, following a £1 million investment in IT.
Penny Streeter is founder of Ambition 24hours, the medical staffing agency, which has achieved annual revenue of more than £60 million in just 10 years through organic growth alone. Mark Phipps, with 20 years experience as an engineering services provider in the fire protection and security sector, has been appointed as managing director of the new division, A24 Site. "As a user of engineering staff employment services, I found it frustrating that staffing agencies could not meet the need of the industry for a fast and reliable service, providing engineering staff at short notice, at any time of the day or night. My experience in the sector - in employing personnel for major engineering projects - complements Ambition’s core expertise and advanced IT systems for recruiting, managing and placing temporary staff, 24-7," Mark Phipps says. A24 Site provides a range of temporary building staff and other personnel: administrative support staff, building staff and construction personnel, building services engineers, ICT communications staff, electrical engineers, fire alarm engineers, health & safety staff, HVAC engineers, industrial management personnel, mechanical engineers, project engineers, quantity surveyors, railway engineers, shop fitters, and site managers. A further distinctive service feature, according to Mark Phipps, is its use of Enterprise management software – the result of a £1 million investment, developed by the in-house IT team, to automate many processes for effectively managing thousands of personnel and project assignments at any time. The result is better, faster and more integrated communication and reporting, he says. Ambition also offers a unique ID card system, according to Phipps, to ensure site security: details of the identity, qualifications and employment status for each member of staff are printed on a tamper-proof photo-ID card, ready for presentation at any time in the workplace.
