This week's issue of (RED)WIRE, a new digital music magazine from (RED), premieres as the lead track a song from Yusuf (the artist better known as Cat Stevens) from his album roadsinger (To Warm You Through The Night) in stores May 5. The song "Everytime I Dream" is a lush, horn-filled, wistful tune and like much of roadsinger, the song was recorded live with few overdubs, giving it an organic and unpretentious feel. It is the first release from Yusuf's forthcoming album.

The new issue of (RED)WIRE also features a discovery song by Melody Gardot. Signed to Universal Worldwide, Gardot teamed with Grammy Award-winning producer Larry Klein (Herbie Hancock, Don Henley, Peter Gabriel, Steely Dan's Walter Becker) on her anticipated album My One And Only Thrill, due April 28 via Verve Records. "Who Will Comfort Me?" is the first song from the album, which earned early acclaim from the BBC as "spellbinding" and "already one of the outstanding albums of 2009."

(RED)WIRE is a weekly digital music magazine that saves lives in Africa. Yusuf and Gardot join an impressive community of artists that have already joined (RED) to release exclusive music on (RED)WIRE including U2, Coldplay, The Killers, Jay-Z, Elvis Costello, John Legend, Dixie Chicks, Sheryl Crow, Neko Case, Oasis, Conor Oberst, TV On The Radio, Death Cab For Cutie, Michael Franti and many more.

The roadsinger (To Warm You Through The Night) album is a beautifully nuanced collection of 11 songs about life and the truths learned along the way, if open to the journey. Yusuf says, "I borrowed from my own experience making Tea For The Tillerman. I realized that some of the best tracks were all live so I went back into recording things live again." As Cat Stevens, he sold more than 60 million albums. Through (RED)WIRE, Yusuf fans old and new will discover that time has only improved upon his immense songwriting craft and warm, expressive voice.

Praised by USA Today as "intimate" and "hypnotic," Gardot's My One And Only Thrill also led the BBC to proclaim, "Talents like Melody Gardot come along all too infrequently. Now that she's here, she is to be treasured." Much of the discussion about Gardot centers on her recovery from a terrible road accident, during which she used music as a therapeutic lifeline. While investigating alternative methods of treatment, one of her doctors suggested Gardot, an amateur musician, try music therapy. Songs quickly began to come together and as she explains, "it just turned into a completely different process altogether. It went from private to public almost right before my eyes."

Each issue of (RED)WIRE includes an exclusive song from a major artist, a discovery song, and often times a special piece of varied content (such as a digital short film, photography or a reading from an artist or actor) as well as a video about the impact (RED) dollars have in Africa. All (RED)WIRE content is DRM-free and can be burned to a CD and played on any device.

Those who purchase (RED)WIRE memberships at www.redwire.com will be able to download a special custom player that allows them to experience each issue in an immersive, visual, magazine-like interface. Half of the $5 monthly fee goes directly to the Global Fund (www.theglobalfund.org) to fight AIDS in Africa. Just five members generate enough money, each month, to buy antiretroviral medicine to keep one person living with HIV in Africa alive.
