A surge in customer voting during the past week has put new schools in the running for a share of $1 million in U.S. Cellular's Calling All Communities campaign. Each of the ten schools that receive the most votes will be awarded $100,000 from U.S. Cellular.

Customers in Carrollton, Ill., a community of 2,500 residents, helped St. John the Evangelist Elementary School join the leader board in fifth place. Enterprise High School in Enterprise, Ore. (pop: 1,800), moved into the top 10. Two more schools made the top 20 list for the first time: Preston High School in Kingwood, W. Va.; and Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville, Kan.

"The holidays are a busy time in our stores and it showed in the volume of votes coming in," said Karen Ehlers, vice president of public affairs and communications for U.S. Cellular. "When communities see their favorite school in the top 20 it pumps up their school spirit and it's a big motivator to cast their vote, but we're also seeing new schools on the list each week."

The rest of the schools in the top 20 are: Kinston High School in Kinston, N.C.; Bearden High School in Knoxville, Tenn.; Washington High School in Washington, N.C.; Kuemper Catholic High School in Carroll, Iowa; McMinn County High School in Athens, Tenn.; Lower Lake High School in Lower Lake, Calif.; Midland Trail High School in Hico, W.Va.; St. Joseph High School in Kenosha, Wis.; Woodland High School in Fairfax, Okla.; Sigourney Junior-Senior High School in Sigourney, Iowa; Kuemper Catholic Elementary School in Carroll, Iowa; Illini West High School in Carthage, Ill.; Humphrey St. Francis School in Humphrey, Neb.; Lincoln Elementary School in Macomb, Ill.; Assumption High School in Wisconsin Rapids., Wis.; and Heritage High School in Maryville, Tenn.

The top 20 leading schools are posted weekly at participating U.S. Cellular stores and at uscellular.com/callingallcommunities.
