Jackie Robinson Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony - Saturday, June 10, 2006 Celebrates the Renovation by New York Junior League Volunteers in Partnership With NYC Parks & Recreation

The New York Junior League (NYJL) has successfully completed an ambitious five-week renovation at Jackie Robinson Park in Manhattan. The Grand Re-Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony took place Saturday, June 10, and featured remarks from Sonya Pankey granddaughter of baseball icon Jackie Robinson, Commissioner Adrian Benepe, NYC Dept. of Parks and Recreation, Assemblyman Hermann "Denny" Farrell, NYC District 7 Council-member, Robert Jackson and NYJL President Cynthia Cathcart. The newly renovated band shell will include performances by the Children's Aid Society Chorus and the Jo-Lee Dancers.
