McDonald's Restaurants of the Greater Philadelphia Region will celebrate World Children's Day(TM), a global program that raises awareness and funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities(R) (RMHC(R)) and other children's causes, on November 10. The event will include a celebrity visit to the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House on Front and Erie from actress, author, activist and Philadelphia native, Holly Robinson Peete.

World Children's Day (WCD) at McDonald's will be celebrated across the country throughout November, culminating on Thursday, November 20. From November 10 - 20, McDonald's customers can donate $1 to RMHC through the purchase of a "Give A Hand(R)." On November 20, $1 from the sale of select menu items at McDonald's will be donated to RMHC. As an extension of the in-restaurant program, new to WCD this year, is the launch of the WCD "Give A Hand for Ronald McDonald House Charities" online widget application that allows consumers to virtually "Give A Hand" to those in need, pledging their support of RMHC through their MySpace or other social networking page. Consumers can also donate to RMHC online and share the "Give A Hand" with their friends and family.

In its seventh year, World Children's Day takes place annually in November in more than 100 countries. To date, McDonald's and its customers from around the world have raised over $124 million for RMHC and other children's causes on World Children's Day.

"World Children's Day is a very special day to Ronald McDonald House Charities and the McDonald's family. We are always grateful for the continued support of our local neighbors, employees and customers who demonstrate their generosity every year during November in support of our World Children's Day," stated John Durante, president, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia Region, Inc. "With support from Philadelphia's own Holly Robinson Peete, I know this year's fundraising event will be a huge success."

McDonald's Restaurants of the Greater Philadelphia Region will be celebrating World Children's Day at the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House at Front and Erie with a visit from actress, author, activist and philanthropist Holly Robinson Peete. Peete will accompany Ronald McDonald on a tour of the facility and spend time with the families and children, who are currently residing at the house. She will also read the story of the first Ronald McDonald House (founded in Philadelphia) to the children and volunteer as the celebrity guest chef of the day, baking and decorating hand-shaped cookies with the children to signify World Children's Day and the "Give A Hand(R)" fundraiser.
