Autonomy Corporation plc (LSE: AU. or AU.L), a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that Software Magazine has named it one of the world's largest software companies in 2008 in the publication's 26th Annual Software 500 ranking of the world's largest software and service providers. This marks the ninth consecutive year that Autonomy has been recognized by the publication. The "Software 500" is currently featured on the publication's Web site (http://www.softwaremag.com ).

"The 2008 Software 500 results show that revenue growth in the software and services industry was healthy," says John P Desmond, editor of Software Magazine and Softwaremag.com. "The Software 500 helps CIOs, senior IT managers and IT staff to research and create the short list of business partners. It is a quick reference of vendor viability. Autonomy has continuously achieved outstanding financial performance in a challenging economic climate with revenues of $343.4 million in 2007, up 37 percent from 2006. We are pleased to recognize it in our Software 500 ranking."

The Software 500 is a revenue-based ranking of the world's largest software and services suppliers targeting medium to large enterprises, their IT professionals, software developers and business managers involved in software and services purchasing. The ranking is based on total worldwide software and services revenue for 2007. This includes revenues from software licenses, maintenance and support, training and software-related services and consulting. Suppliers are not ranked on their total corporate revenue, since many have other lines of business, such as hardware. The financial information was gathered by a survey prepared by King Content Co. and posted at http://www.Softwaremag.com, as well as from public documents.

"Autonomy's strategic value in the enterprise has risen with the proliferation of unstructured information and with changes in regulatory requirements. Litigation is exploding as a result of recent turmoil in the financial markets. Companies must be able to analyze all of their enterprise information quickly and accurately in order to comply with regulations," said Mike Lynch, CEO of Autonomy. "Autonomy's Meaning-Based Computing is the only technology available that enables computers to understand the relationships that exist between disparate pieces of information and perform sophisticated analysis operations with real business value, automatically and in real-time. With Autonomy, organizations are able to maximize the value of information and mitigate its associated risks."
