Organizers for the Creative Cities Summit 2.0 today urged those interested in attending to register for the Creative Cities Summit 2.0 (CCS2) (http://creativecitiessummit.com/c/registration/). The early bird $250 registration pricing has been extended to September 26 for the three-day conference which takes place October 13-15, 2008 in Detroit at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center.

"Due to heavy interest and demand, we have decided to extend the early bird registration fee of $250 until Sept. 26," said CCS2 producer Peter Kageyama. "We want as many people as possible to be able to come, to hear and to participate in this not to be missed event."

The Creative Cities 2.0 Summit will provide a next-generation look at how communities are integrating innovation, social entrepreneurship, arts & culture and business to make vibrant economies. Highlights include a special Big Creative Three session on Tuesday, October 14 featuring Richard Florida, John Howkins and Charles Landry, the originators of the concepts of the "creative class", the "creative economy" and the "creative city" respectively. Having all three together is akin to having Ford, GM and Chrysler onstage to talk about the future of the auto industry.

A pre- conference "Unconference" (http://ccs2unconference.ning.com/) with the theme of "Detroit 2.0" will take place from 1- 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 12 at MOCAD (http://www.mocadetroit.org/)in Detroit. There is a nominal $10 registration fee for the day. An unconference is a facilitated, participant-driven, face-to-face conference around a theme or purpose. It has its origins in the technology community.

The summit brings together change agents including architects, designers, urban planners, civic leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, students, educators and community leaders to share their experiences, their projects, their successes and failures as together we re-imagine cities.

The special early bird registration pricing has been extended through September 26, 2008. The conference fee goes up to $300 after that.

For more information or to register for both the Unconference (http://ccs2unconference.ning.com/) and CCS2, go online to http://www.creativecitiessummit.com.
