The state Department of Agriculture today rescinded the fluid raw milk permit suspension for the Hendricks Farm & Dairy of Telford, Montgomery County, after testing of raw milk samples at the farm showed no evidence of pathogenic bacteria. Sales of raw milk may resume at the farm.
The Department of Agriculture issued a notice of suspension to the farm on Sept. 12 after the state Department of Health received reports that individuals who consumed raw milk purchased from the dairy were found to have gastrointestinal illness due to Campylobacter, a bacterial infection. Samples taken from the farm from Sept. 11 - 16 tested negative for Campylobacter, and a satisfactory inspection at the farm was conducted on Sept. 18. As a result, the raw milk permit suspension was rescinded. As a precaution, the Department of Agriculture will continue to test samples from the farm for the next three weeks.
