Representatives of Pasadena Advertising accompanied Robb Scoular, Los Angeles Boy Scouts Area Council chairman, to Dodger Stadium to honor Russell Martin for lending his name and image to scouting.

According to L.A.A.C. chairman Robb Scoular, "Russell's contribution to Scout recruitment efforts has helped enrich the lives of Los Angeles inner city youth. With his cooperation, the Boy Scouts of Los Angeles can catch their eyes, capture their imagination, and give these young people access to activities they might never have dreamed of."

Russell is a key part of a unique coalition of volunteers and businesspeople, including Pasadena Advertising Marketing and Design and the California State Outdoor Advertising Association.

The theme of the campaign, developed by Creative Directors David Ensz and Tony Nino, is "We Fill Big Shoes."

"Those shoes include not only the cleats of sports heroes," Tony explained, "but also the shoes of policemen, the boots of firemen, and the pressurized footwear of astronauts. In fact, 11 of the 12 men who walked on the moon were Scouts."

"This was a labor of love," added David Ensz, an Eagle Scout himself, "I see it as paying back a debt of gratitude to those who helped me so many years ago. Sixty percent of youth in Los Angeles live below the poverty level. Yet last year, 261 L.A. Scouts earned the rank of Eagle. I'm proud to be a part of that."

That is the quality of character that Scouting has helped build for more than a century around the world, and for more than 50 years in Los Angeles.
