Goody's Family Clothing, Inc. (Goody's), a moderately priced family apparel retailer operating in small to midsize markets primarily throughout the Southeast, today announced that Goody's will launch a new line of clothing designed by Ashley Judd for plus- sized women. The "Ashley Judd Plus" line will be available in 150 Goody's stores beginning in August 2008.
Following the strong performance of Ashley Judd's current collection, which has been sold exclusively at Goody's since September 2007, Ashley Judd has once again partnered with Goody's to sell a new line designed specifically for plus-sized women. "We are delighted to continue our excellent partnership with Ashley Judd by expanding her offering with the Ashley Judd Plus Line," said Goody's CEO, Paul White. "Our customers have warmly received the Ashley Judd collection, and the brand has become a key part of Goody's merchandise selection. Further, sales from the collection have been strong since the introduction in September 2007 and the brand has been a consistent differentiator to our business. We look forward to the launch of another one of Ashley's lines and giving our plus-sized customers a great fashion offering." The entire Ashley Judd label consists of classic yet modern denim, organic and knit tees and sweaters, and career casual mix-and-match pieces that include blazers, blouses, skirts, cardigan sets and trousers. This new line will reflect the same mix of merchandise. A portion of sales from the Ashley Judd collection help support Goody's Good Deeds for Good Schools, a program that awards half a million dollars in grants to kindergarten through 12th grades in Goody's communities. Proceeds go towards helping pay for items local schools need but cannot afford through regular channels of educational funding, such as renovations to school playgrounds, updated computer games or technology, and various arts programs. Goody's offers a broad selection of merchandise that compliments Ashley Judd's lines and targets value-conscious customers, such as lines from Adidas, Levis, Nike, Dockers, Chaps, Reebok, Lee, and Alfred Dunner.
