Everyone's a winner when you stop into participating Giant stores throughout the Washington DC and Baltimore, Maryland areas on Saturday, May 3 for the Triple Winner Game(R) Scoop Day event.

This year, EDY'S Grand Ice Cream hopes to raise over $100,000 during this one day event when ice cream fans donate $1 for a scoop of SLOW CHURNED ice cream or $3 for a scoop of SLOW CHURNED Light Ice Cream AND a compilation CD of 8 former American Idol performers. EDY'S will donate all proceeds from Washington DC and Baltimore-area stores to The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Medicine and The Children's Cancer Foundation.

"Last year EDY'S raised close to $100,000 for children's cancer research in just one day with the help of caring people throughout the area, and this year, we have the ability to raise even more with your help. We are excited about the opportunity to raise this donation and encourage people to come in to their local Giant store on May 3 and join us in the fight against childhood cancer," said Michael DaPonte, director of sales strategy, EDY'S Grand Ice Cream.

"With EDY'S support, we are making a difference in the lives of thousands of children," said Jim Astuto, executive vice president for Giant Food. "The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins Medicine and The Children's Cancer Foundation rely on the generosity of local communities and citizens to help provide lifesaving support to children and their families struggling with the difficulties of childhood cancer. We are proud to take part in this event."

Before and after that time, show your support by going to any Giant Food store between April 11 and July 10, and donating $1 for a Triple Winner game ticket.* Every ticket could be a winner, with prizes valued from $2 to $10,000 in cash!

During this time EDY'S Grand Ice Cream will make a donation to these same children's cancer research organizations from sales of its SLOW CHURNED Take The Cake Light Ice Cream at all Giant stores.

*No purchase or contribution necessary. For Official Rules, and additional information on the Triple Winner Game and the May 3 Fundraiser Day, look for store promotions and signage at your local Giant store location.
