Hundreds of employees from DaimlerChrysler Truck Financial are spending two days this week teaming up with Chicago Cares to renovate two public schools in Chicago.

Today, approximately 120 DaimlerChrysler Truck Financial employees will leave their laptops in Lisle and head to the Ella Flagg Young Elementary School in the North Austin area to paint nine classrooms and school hallways in addition to outside painting on the playground. Young Elementary School serves about 1,650 students in grades K-8.

Tomorrow, another 120 DaimlerChrysler Truck Financial employees will head to Ericson Scholastic Academy, at 3600 W. 5th Avenue. Ericson is a Magnet School which accepts its 700 students from all over the city on a lottery basis. There, the volunteers will paint 20 classrooms, a United States map on the playground and participate in other projects.

"Our people are excited about the opportunity to help get the schools ready for the return of the students by creating a bright and colorful environment in the classrooms," said Todd Hubbard, Vice President of Credit, Collections and Internal Operations at DaimlerChrysler Truck Financial. "We are firm believers in our core value of social responsibility."

According to Kristine Kappel, manager of marketing and communications for Chicago Cares, DaimlerChrysler Truck Financial is helping the organization further its mission.

"Today, DaimlerChrysler Truck Financial will join with Chicago Cares to brighten the lives of hundreds of students and make their schools more inviting and motivating places to learn," said Kappel. "As the city's premier volunteer organization, we're thrilled to join with DaimlerChrysler Truck Financial to provide an opportunity for its employees to give back to the community in a meaningful way."
