Get fit. Drink less alcohol. Quit smoking. Spend more time with friends and family. Visit cultural events. Seek out educational activities. With the start of the New Year only days away, many people look forward to kicking unhealthy habits.

This New Year's Day, Bay Area residents are encouraged to get a jumpstart on resolutions by visiting Gunther von Hagens' BODY WORLDS 2 & The Three Pound Gem at The Tech Museum of Innovation. The exhibit features comparisons of healthy lungs to smokers' lungs, a healthy liver to one riddled with cirrhosis, an obese body, and more than 20 whole-bodies in various athletic poses. Together these specimens offer an experience for the whole family.

Independent surveys conducted at BODY WORLDS have revealed that 68% of visitors resolved to pay more attention to their physical health after seeing the exhibit. In follow-up surveys, more than 30% of those polled stated that they had smoked less and consumed less alcohol since visiting exhibition.

BODY WORLDS 2 features real human bodies preserved through Plastination -- a revolutionary specimen preservation method invented by German anatomist and physician, Dr. Gunther von Hagens. All bodies on display were donated to the Institute for Plastination in Heidelberg, Germany for use in the exhibition.

Crowds of visitors have already flocked to visit the exhibit this holiday season and thousands more are expected. BODY WORLDS and The Tech Museum of Innovation will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on January 1st. This exhibit will end its limited engagement in San Jose soon. Advance tickets are highly encouraged and available online at http://www.thetech.org.
