RideSpring, a leading innovator and provider of managed alternative commute incentive programs, announced today that the County of Santa Cruz Government has elected to offer its more than 2,000 employees the RideSpring Program, an incentive-driven alternative commute program. This will have a positive impact in reducing the current facility parking crunch and related worksite traffic congestion for county workers and residents alike.

The Santa Cruz County Government main administrative office complex is currently strained to its parking capacity. With the implementation of RideSpring's alternative commuting program, the County is now able to provide a cost effective solution to help reduce solo driver commute trips to County worksites. RideSpring enables the County to make more effective use of its limited parking resources and improve general campus traffic flow.

RideSpring's program will make it easier for the County's more than 2,000 employees to find carpool partners at work, and will acknowledge and reward program participants for using any type of alternative commute they prefer, such as biking, walking, using public transit, or carpooling to get to work. In addition to eliminating parking congestion, RideSpring's alternative commute service will benefit the community and environment by reducing commuter traffic and related air pollution emissions.

RideSpring http://www.ridespring.com (a California Clean Tech Open Award Finalist in Transportation 2006 and 2007, http://www.cacleantech.com) enables mid-to-large public and private organizations to implement a company-focused trip reduction solution that provides ridematching and prize incentives for those using any type of alternative commute. The RideSpring program provides a "green" solution to on-campus parking issues, makes the daily commute easier for staff, as well as providing detailed trip reduction statistics -- including CO2 emission reduction.

"Santa Cruz is leading the way in trying new solutions to address the huge challenges of traffic congestion, air pollution and global warming" said Paul McGrath, President and founder of RideSpring. "Everyone recognizes that current solutions are not enough and more needs to be done. Last year the City of Santa Cruz elected to provide the RideSpring program to its more than 900 employees and that has proven to be a tremendous success. With County employees also offered RideSpring, there are now more than 3,000 local commuters that have immediate access to a service that enables them to find carpool partners at work, track their alternative commute savings as well as providing them with acknowledgement and chances to win valuable prizes every month for using any type of alternative commute."

According to its recently released report for the City of Santa Cruz, during 2006 (its first year offering RideSpring to its workers), 25% of all city employees signed on with RideSpring and over 16,000 alternative commute trips were reported, eliminating over 46,000 pounds of CO2 from the commute.

Unlike traditional rideshare and carpool programs, RideSpring's managed service rewards all workers participating in the company alternative commute program regardless of their alternative commute preference. Bicyclists, transit users, vanpoolers and those who walk to work are able to accumulate alternative commute points and are eligible for prize rewards each month along with their ridesharing colleagues. The more workers utilize commute alternatives, the greater their chances of winning valuable monthly rewards including gift cards and vouchers from big name stores including REI, Patagonia, as well as to local businesses such as Clouds Downtown, the Spokesman bicycles, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, or "green" product retailers. Prizewinners are announced monthly in company-wide emails and on their RideSpring website, giving employees positive motivation to improve their commute choices, thereby reducing traffic congestion, air pollution and global warming emissions.

About RideSpring
