Omaha songwriter and co-author of Princess Diana the Musical, Karen Sokolof Javitch, will travel to London for the concert Diana's sons are giving in her memory on July 1st. "I have such a deep respect for Princess Diana that I wouldn't miss this concert," the award-winning songwriter said.

Her musical, which is about Princess Diana's life with Prince Charles, will make its' European debut this December in Germany. "As an added bonus, the director of Princess Diana is flying from Germany to meet with me the day after the concert."

Ms. Javitch wanted to do something in the United States to honor the Princess' memory so she is sponsoring a writing contest which will give nearly $6000 in cash prizes to young people ages 7-18. They have to write about good things they have done for others. "I tried to capture Diana's spirit with this contest," she commented. Select contest entries will be put into a book for Prince William and Prince Harry.

In August, she is also having a Princess Diana Day in her hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. She is donating a piece of equipment to the local Children's Hospital in Diana's memory and hosting a mother-daughter luncheon which will gather toys for the hospital and raise money for the Nebraska Foundation for Visually Impaired Children. "I am sure Princess Diana would have approved. I want young people to see what an inspiration she was in giving to those in need."
