700 7-Up workers in Southern California voted to join the Teamsters today.

"These 7-Up workers join our Teamsters brothers and sisters who work at Pepsi and Coca-Cola throughout Southern California," said Jim Hoffa, Teamsters General President. "I know that the local unions representing these workers will fight hard to win them the best contract."

The bottlers, production employees, warehousemen, engineers, mechanics and in-house clerical staffs at five 7-Up locations will now all be represented by Teamster local unions in Southern California. The local unions are 495 in Pica Rivera, 848 in Covina, 896 in Los Angeles and 952 in Orange.

"The workers wanted to be Teamsters," said Patrick D. Kelly, Secretary- Treasurer of Local 952. "They were ready for a big change. Now we will concentrate on negotiating their first contract."

The Southern California 7-Up workers join the over 50,000 members of the Teamsters Brewery and Soft Drink Workers Conference. Teamster contracts cover employees of Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Anheuser-Busch and Miller Beer across the United States and Canada.

Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents hardworking men and women throughout the United States and Canada.
