      Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell and U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.) today celebrated the selection of the Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engine as the exclusive power for The Boeing Company's KC-767 Advanced Tanker. The KC-767 Advanced Tanker is being considered by the U.S. Air Force for the tanker recapitalization program. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company. <br><br>"Connecticut's aerospace industry has always played a key role in supporting America's armed forces," said Governor Rell. "I am excited that Boeing has selected our talented and experienced workforce to help produce the KC-767 Advanced Tanker. Our nation's sons and daughters deserve the most capable, efficient aircraft available and Connecticut-based companies can help deliver that. This would be terrific for our military and terrific for Connecticut's economy." <br><br>Both elected officials applauded Boeing's selection of Pratt & Whitney's PW4000 engines for the KC-767 Advanced Tanker during a visit today to Pratt & Whitney's East Hartford campus. <br><br>"Governor Rell and Senator Lieberman have demonstrated their commitment to a strong national defense by supporting key defense programs such as the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter, the C-17 Globemaster III, and the KC-767 Advanced Tanker," said Steve Finger, president, Pratt & Whitney. "These programs not only help ensure freedom around the world, they are also vital to the health of Connecticut's work force." <br><br>Pratt & Whitney military engine models include the F135 for the F-35 Lightning II; F119 powering the F-22 Raptor; F117 for the C-17 Globemaster III; F100 for F-15 and F-16 fighters; J52 for the EA-6B Prowler; TF33 powering AWACS, Joint STARS, B-52, C-141 and KC-135 aircraft; TF30 for the F-111; PT6 for T-6A and UH-1N aircraft; and JT15 for the T-1A trainer. <br><br>Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines.
