Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business has again embarked on its annual search for the best family businesses in the great state of Texas.

"Baylor University and the Entrepreneurship Center consider it a privilege to honor family-owned firms throughout the state of Texas," said J. David Allen, Director of the John F. Baugh Center for Entrepreneurship. "The family- owned firm is extremely important in the economy of the United States, comprising 80 to 90 percent of all business enterprises in North America. When family-owned firms are able to continue the business into the second and third generations they have achieved what very few are able to achieve."

The Business School will accept nominations through August 15, and the winners will be announced at a banquet on Baylor's campus November 15. Baylor's Institute for Family Business sponsors the program, which is designed to recognize firms whose families demonstrate a commitment to their community and strong business and family values.

The winners are chosen from three categories: large, medium and small businesses. Other awards are distributed based on the special categories of Family Values Award, Community Commitment Award, Fastest-Growing Family Business Award, Well-Managed Family Business Award, Founders Award and Heritage Award.
