A zero-cost self publishing option for authors that also includes a free listing on eBay was launched today by MediaClick, Inc., a Naples, Florida company.
A combination podcast, e-learning course and multimedia presentation called a "PocketBook" is made using trial version software developed by MediaClick. Authors using the system can mix video and/or audio as well as text in the new format. The system also includes the ability to include a multiple choice quiz that provides immediate feedback and a score. The new software application adds more usability for Apple's popular iPod devices. The PocketBook Maker software uses the iPod's support for basic HTML tags in the NOTES folder to power the interactive functionality. The HTML programming gets very complex when our Active-Maze file structure is added, said Steve Cox, MediaClick's President: "We have made a development engine that enhances the capability of the HTML by introducing layers logical branching." The "eBay PocketBooks For iPods Store" is hosted by MediaClick. Potential buyers will see photorealistic box-shot renderings of each PocketBook listed in the eBay store. Selections can be immediately downloaded to the buyer's computer and iPod. The hub of the system is MediaClick's free and upgradeable PocketBook Library program because it can transfer PocketBooks to computers and iPods or any other future device or platform such as Apple's soon to be released iPhone. "PocketBook authors can bypass traditional publishing methods and costs," said Cox. "This is a publishing model that will allow a new breed of authors to showcase their work without risking or paying anything." Cox said that the key to an author's success will depend on buyer feedback; it is a very honest system. "We intend to drive huge numbers of potential buyers to our eBay store and buyer satisfaction is guaranteed so it is very important that the author publishes quality material."
