The National Hispanic Corporate Council will hold its member meeting March 27-29, hosted by Microsoft. While in the Seattle area, a select group of members representing Fortune 500 companies will visit Chief Sealth High School, March 27, as part of the NHCC's In School Program. John Boyd, Principal; Guadalupe Barnes, Vice- Principal; Delfino Munoz and Roberta Lindeman of Proyecto Saber of Chief Sealth will welcome the NHCC corporate executives.

NHCC developed its In-School Program in 1997 to create a link between Hispanic students in junior and senior high schools and the individual NHCC representatives. The Program was designed to build awareness of the contributions of Latinos in corporate America to Latino youth.

The representatives will also discuss opportunities in the corporate world and the traits and skills that corporations seek in prospective employees. The importance of education in their personal development and in meeting their goals and career potential is strongly emphasized. The NHCC corporate representatives share their individual experiences and the obstacles and challenges they faced in continuing their education beyond high school. Their "si se puede" discussion resonates with the students, because they can identify and relate them to their own circumstances. These talks are followed by a question and answer session.

The representatives participating in the In School visit include Ana Hart of Tyson Foods, Inc.; Christian Henning, Grace Spencer and Sage Caldwell of Microsoft; Roger Guzman of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.; Sharonda Britton of Colgate Palmolive; Andrea Hoehne of State Farm Insurance Co.; and Gabriela Montealegre of Owens Corning. Allstate Insurance Company is a sponsor of NHCC's In School Program.

The National Hispanic Corporate Council is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing its member companies the resources, market intelligence, collective expertise, education and counsel to implement proven strategies for reaching the Hispanic community externally and leveraging Hispanic talent internally.
