Porter’s and Tamron Announce Photo Contest Monthly Themes

Porter’s and Tamron announce the themes for Porter’s annual Photo Calendar Contest. The Photo Calendar Contest is a nationwide, fun and free showcase for amateur photographic talent. Each month poses a new theme as a challenge for the entrants.
“The 2011 edition of the Photo Calendar Contest boasts some more challenging themes than we have seen for a few years” Said Tara Lantz, manager of Porter’s Cedar Falls store. “In the past we have chosen fairly specific themes such as ‘Holiday Kids’. This year we have opened up many of the months to allow a higher degree of creative interpretation. We are hoping to see some really interesting images!”
The themes for the Photo Calendar Contest 2011 are:
January –Tiny
February – White
March – Created Reality
April – Strong
May – Rusty
June – Humor
July – Fun in the Sun
August – Falling Water
September – Loud
October – Silly Signs
November – Black and White Landscapes
December – Music
Anyone can enter the contest and there is no fee to compete. Before being posted to the contest gallery site each entry is first judged on composition, focus and adherence to the month’s theme.
The winner of each month’s contest receives a $50.00 gift card prize and their image graces a month in the following year’s calendar. From the monthly winners three annual winners are selected to split a prize purse of $500.00.
Everyone wins even if they don’t enter. As soon as the monthly winner is announced the winning image is used to create a free downloadable PDF page for next year’s calendar. At the end of the 2011 contest all of the winning monthly images will have been used to create a 2012 calendar.
