To help spread gifts and smiles to children, the Stater Bros. "Family" of Employees has proudly presented a $25,050.00 check to representatives from the United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. A representative from the United States Marine Corps Inspector & Instructor Staff, Riverside, California attended the check presentation ceremony at the Stater Bros. Corporate Offices on Wednesday, December 16th.

For the fifth year in a row, Stater Bros. has presented the largest cash donation to this local Toys for Tots Program.

Wayne Harkley, MSgt, USMC (Retired) received the check on behalf of the Marine Corps Reserve. The United States Marine Corps Reserve will use the $25,050.00 to purchase thousands of toys. These toys will be distributed to community-based organizations in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, and these organizations will donate the toys to local children and families who are in need of a helping hand this holiday season.

"The Stater Bros. 'Family' believes in giving back to the communities we serve," said Jack H. Brown, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Stater Bros. Markets. "We are very proud to help make the Holiday wishes of so many children come true this year."

This generous donation was made possible through a partnership between Stater Bros. and the manufacturers of Stater Bros. brand products. Stater Bros.' customers support the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program every time they purchase a Stater Bros. brand product.

The United States Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program was developed in 1947 for the purpose of spreading Christmas cheer to children in need. The Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year and distributes these toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.

Stater Bros. was founded in 1936 in Yucaipa, California, and has grown steadily through the years to become the largest privately owned Supermarket Chain in Southern California and the largest employer in both San Bernardino County and Riverside County, with annual sales in 2009 of $3.77 billion. During the past ten years, Stater Bros. has contributed $100 million in support of nonprofit organizations in the communities it serves. The Company operates 167 Supermarkets, and there are over 19,000 members of the Stater Bros. "Family" of Employees.
