Bukkyo University is hosting a seminar, Buddhism and Christianity: American and Japanese Moralities, to bring greater clarity and understanding between the cultures of East and West. The seminar, will be held Saturday, March 14, 2009, 1:00PM-4:15PM at their campus in the Little Tokyo area. Specific seminar information can be found at http://www.bukkyounivla.org/

The seminar will have a series of speakers from academia: Dr. Dyron Daughrity and Dr. Glenn T. Webb of Pepperdine University, Dr. James L. Fredericks of Loyola Marymount University and Dr. William R. LaFleur of the University of Pennsylvania, addressing the differences and similarities between Buddhism and Christianity. A panel discussion will follow with Dr. Carl Bielefeldt of Stanford University, Dr. Mokusen Miyuki of California State University, Northridge and Dr. William M. Bodiford of UCLA.

One of the scheduled speakers, Dr. William R. LaFleur, accurately summarizes the purpose of the seminar: "I think that Christians and Buddhists, who live and work near one another here in Southern California, have all the potential to provide a very positive example, not only of concentration, but of reciprocal understanding. Our world needs it. The opportunity is surely in place."

This is an opportunity, for Buddhists and Christians, faiths of East and West, to begin the road to Harmonious Coexistence.

Admission is free for students and educators; a $10 donation is suggested for the general public. To register access - http://www.bukkyounivla.org/
