The upcoming European Soccer Championship puts high demands on telecommunication networks. Usage peaks during the games and the concentration of large number of subscribers in and around the stadiums and fan areas require an infrastructure optimized for the event. Kapsch's DataXtender system provides invaluable support to mobilkom austria. As official provider of telecommunications for the European Soccer Championship, mobilkom austria relies on DataXtender, which Kapsch developed in-house, together with ftw. (Telecommunications Research Center Vienna). mobilkom austria will use DataXtender to monitor and analyze data traffic usage during the European Soccer Championship. This highly innovative system from Kapsch can also be seen at TM Forum Management World 2008 (20.-22.May 2008, Nice) at the Kapsch booth (#64). As one of the largest European Systems Integrators of voice and data products for mobile- and fixed networks, Kapsch will present DataXtender's newest features.

DataXtender is a powerful Business Intelligence Tool, which collects and processes data from a wide range of network elements. It has been in use at mobilkom austria since 2004 as an analysis tool for GPRS and UMTS traffic in its data network. "DataXtender continuously supplies various departments with overviews of the network itself and its usage, enabling staff to react quickly to changes in the system and to optimize the services we offer. That's extremely important - especially in situations like the European Soccer Championship, when an exceptionally high number of people simultaneously call or use our data services," explains Dr. Alexander Kuchar, Mobile Service Network Director at mobilkom austria. DataXtender delivers valuable basic information from GSM, GPRS and UMTS networks in real-time. Kapsch's in-house development supplies Operations and Service Management departments of network operators with data about network load, network performance, or frequency of occurance of certain errors. Up to 95% of the data generated in the network can be collected, deciphered and processed.

DataXtender provides far more precise, and much more significant, information and results about network load and performance, irrespective of the type of service, than other, competitive products making such claims. Therefore the cost effectiveness and the error frequency of individual services can be accurately analyzed. "Many Austrian and international customers will be looking up data on the internet during the soccer matches. DataXtender includes patented technology from Kapsch, which helps mobilkom austria to efficiently monitor and manage the resulting data streams," explains Kurt Plattner, Member of the Board at Kapsch CarrierCom.

DataXtender also provides profitability analyses of new services. There is multifaceted information, such as the acceptance of newly launched services, or data collected helping to predict usage patterns of future products. Valuable information for enhancements and/or changes necessary in the network infrastructure can be extracted.
