DataRemote Launches Versatile New Compact Digital GSM Modem for Precision Asset Tracking

This state-of-the-art GSM/GPRS device is a perfect complement to the company's comprehensive suite of CDMA and 900 MHz wireless solutions -- expressly tailored to meet the M2M market's evolving communication needs.

The DataRemote CDS-1900 is a quad-band GSM/GPRS modem with factory installed options to support USB, RS-485 and RS-232 interfaces at baud rates up to 460,800, allowing it to communicate with practically any device. The reliable DataRemote CDS-1900 uses the latest in GSM cell phone technology, and also features an integrated GPS engine. This brings a high level of innovation and flexibility to Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL), Automatic Meter Reading (AMR), Remote Equipment Monitoring (RME), Intelligent Trafficking, and embedded applications.

A feature common across platforms is a sophisticated event triggering/reporting model where events can be defined to trigger off various digital and analog input conditions and extensive geofencing location based conditions. Events lead to reporting and IO actions that can involve TCP, UDP or SMS reporting messages being sent and toggling of general-purpose outputs. Additionally, the CDS-1900 contains features that allow it to emulate a Hayes compatible telephone modem, thus allowing legacy devices to be connected via the latest digital wireless technology.

Examples for uses of these extensive features include monitoring DC power voltage to trigger engaging battery backup power and reporting of this action; monitoring speed and location of a vehicle when it enters or leaves user-defined geofences; and waypoint tracking of trucks enroute to a specific destination.

The CDS is both versatile and compact -- roughly 1/5 the size of many industry modems available today -- lending itself to easily be integrated into enclosures or other user equipment. DataRemote's embedded configurations allow companies to seamlessly incorporate the modem into existing application specific solutions.
