Stockport, United Kingdom, (18th Oct 2011) – Trolex, a specialist supplier and manufacturer of gas detection, machine condition monitoring, environmental control and gas recovery monitoring systems to the utilities industry, has launched a new intelligent gas sensor to be used in the mining and tunnelling industries.

The new Sentro 1 has intelligent plug-in gas sensing modules to provide safety monitoring of toxic and flammable gases in mining and tunnelling applications with easy installation, rapid cost-effective maintenance and the highest safety performance.

The advanced design technology uses pre-calibrated input eModules for monitoring a wide range of gases, with each one storing all necessary data about type identification, sensing range and specific calibration. The sensor also integrates directly with other plant equipment and monitoring devices.

The sensor works well at both low and high gas concentrations, is poison resistant and is built to withstand adverse conditions, as well as having a long and reliable operating life. It can also be swiftly recalibrated and the eModules can be replaced without the need of assistance from a specialist technician.

A spokesperson for Trolex said: “We are delighted to announce the launch of our new intelligent gas sensor, the Sentro 1. Using state-of-the-art detection equipment, the Sentro 1 will provide those working in mining and tunnelling with a safe and accurate way of monitoring toxic and flammable gases. It is vital when working with potentially harmful gases that all possible precautions are taken, and with the Sentro 1, we are confident we have a piece of equipment capable of making life safer for those working with such gases.”
