BATAVIA, Ill., Sept. 16, 2011 -- In cooperation with the Jensen Farms previously announced recall, ALDI has voluntarily recalled all fresh cantaloupes from the Rocky Ford, Colo., growing region that were sold in its U.S. stores. The voluntary recall is associated with the Sept. 14, 2011, cantaloupe recall by Jensen Farms due to potential Listeria contamination.

On Sept. 13, our supplier Frontera Produce notified ALDI that we had received cantaloupes from the Rocky Ford region. Out of an abundance of caution and concern for our customers, ALDI immediately removed all cantaloupes from store shelves, regardless of its growing origin. Product then was replaced on the sales floor with cantaloupes grown in other geographic regions. Cantaloupes currently in ALDI stores are not subject to this voluntary recall.

The cantaloupes affected by this voluntary recall were sold individually in the fresh produce section in ALDI stores. The whole cantaloupes have a green and white sticker that reads: Product of USA- Frontera Produce-Colorado Fresh-Rocky Ford-Cantaloupe or a gray, yellow, and green sticker that reads: Jensen Farms-Sweet Rocky Fords. If the whole cantaloupe is unlabeled, please discard the product as a precautionary measure.

Jensen Farms distributed the recalled product to the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.

For more information about Listeria, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's website at cdc.gov. Customers who have the affected product should discard it immediately or return it to their local store for a full refund.

ALDI sincerely regrets any inconvenience and concern this voluntary recall may cause.
