California's Chief Executive, Governor Arnold A. Schwarzenegger, will be honored for his environmental achievements by the Frontier Project Foundation on October 16, 2010. The Environmental Steward Awards will be presented at this year's Green Tie Gala at the Frontier Project in Rancho Cucamonga.

Governor Schwarzenegger's notable environmental accomplishments during his tenure include the nation-leading Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 – a bipartisan agreement to combat global warming by reducing California's greenhouse gas. Governor Schwarzenegger is the first governor in decades to make major investments in improving California's aging infrastructure through his Strategic Growth Plan, helping to reduce congestion and clean the air. He established the Hydrogen Highway and Million Solar Roofs Plan, continuing his leadership in creating a greener environment. In November 2009, more than three years of leadership by Governor Schwarzenegger culminated with the passage of the Safe, Clean and Reliable Drinking Water Supply Act of 2010.

Each year, the Frontier Project Foundation recognizes environmental stewards who have made an impact on environmental sustainability throughout our region and state. The annual Green Tie Gala is a fundraising event that enables good environmental stewards, like Governor Schwarzenegger, to be recognized for their contributions.

This year's Gala will be hosted by model and noted sustainable living advocate Didiayer Snyder – the "green voice" for ABC-TV's Emmy-winning EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION. The Australian native is a longtime volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, having served as its national ambassador, and has contributed her carpentry skills and knowledge of sustainable living to communities across the country.

The Frontier Project is an endeavor of the Cucamonga Valley Water District through its Frontier Project Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the environmental challenges of the region. The Frontier Project has earned a LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Current sponsors of this year's Gala include this year's Visionary Sponsor Arrowhead ©Mountain Spring Water, as well as Turner Construction, HMC Architects, Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc., the U.S. Green Building Council Inland Empire Chapter, San Bernardino County Supervisor Paul Biane, Second District, CV Strategies, INLAND EMPIRE magazine, INLAND VALLEY DAILY BULLETIN, KVCR and KSPA-AM 1510.
