Soles4Souls(TM) Inc., the international shoe charity dedicated to providing free footwear to needy people around the world, announced today that they are sending 4,000 pairs of shoes to residents in and around Greensburg, Kansas. The shoes are being sent to assist the victims of the recent tornado that killed 11 people and destroyed about 95% of the town.

"The whole town was just torn to shreds," said Paul Wilson, President of the Outreach Division. "Many people are displaced and the area is shut down completely to outside groups, but by Thursday we will be operating in full force and delivering 4,000 pairs of shoes," he said.

The footwear charity will be supplying work boots so that residents may return to their homes and businesses to gather any belongings that are salvageable. Soles4Souls is also giving a variety of shoes to men, women and children to replace footwear that was lost in the category F5 storm.

"We want to thank Greg Augustine of Brown Shoe Fit Company, who has been instrumental in helping to set up a major distribution point at Barclay College," said Wilson. "Other agencies such as FEMA, The Red Cross and the Salvation Army are also working from the same area, and Greg coordinated a volunteer team to work alongside volunteers from Operation Compassion, who will be in the area for months," he said.

Soles4Souls will remain present in Kansas until all known needs have been met, according to Wilson. For more information on how you can help with the shoe drive, visit http://www.soles4souls.org or call 866-521-SHOE.

Soles4Souls Hires Two New Key Personnel

Soles4Souls announced that it has hired Tim Deats as Director of Compliance/Grant Manager for the shoe charity. His role will be to ensure the accuracy of all financial information and reporting, and that these reports meet all federal and state guidelines. Tim will also be involved in researching and securing grants, as well as providing the reporting necessary to participate in theses programs.

Brigette Dunn is the new Procurement Director for Special Markets, and she will focus on soliciting donations from Houses of Worship and other non-profit organizations. She comes to Soles4Souls from the Martha O'Bryan Center, where she helped secure more than $280,000 in annual revenue through special events and church donations. She also implemented innovative and successful fund raising initiatives, and is looking to continue these efforts with Soles4Souls.

Soles4Souls Opens Office in China

Wayne Elsey, Founder and CEO of Soles4Souls Inc., also announced that the charity has opened an office in China to help facilitate the logistics of footwear coming straight from manufacturing facilities to Soles4Souls. "This office is vital for us to expand our reach into the Far East, where most of the footwear manufacturers have production facilities," Elsey said. "We want to give all footwear companies an easy option to donate or recycle their excess product or discontinued styles so we can continue to help the less fortunate," Elsey said.

The charity has set aside an email address for the office, which is chinaoffice@soles4souls.org.
