The New PeerReview™ Module of the PathData® System Greatly Reduces Time Needed to Complete Preclinical Studies Popularity:

Gabriel J. Adams

Innovative preclinical software vendor PDS Pathology Data Systems Ltd., recently announced the release of its novel PeerReview™ module that allows for a most efficient formal cross-check of preclinical histopathology data and the option of easily integrating and recording the pertaining results via the system's pathology report generating tool.

We certainly have designed our PeerReview™ module with the same flexibility and scientific functionality as the rest of our systems and, by all the feedback we have received thus far, we have again far exceeded the expectations of our user community.
Dr. Hannes Westen, lead designer of the software, provided the key design concepts that make this a truly unique, and very powerful scientific tool. "The peer-review process has always been one of the last steps of a professional preclinical study that seems to bring progress to a halt. Our goal was to combine the intuitive design of the PathData® System with the needs of our users in order to make an otherwise laborious and time-consuming process into a simple, straightforward and integrated step in their workflow, which has resulted in a time savings of up to 75%", said Dr. Westen. "The idea of the new PeerReview™ program, therefore, was to put the full power and flexibility of the PathData® System to work in building a fast and flexible tissue selection mode for automatic record-keeping of all possible differences between the original and the peer reviewer's data, and for an optional integration of the consensus data. The program allows for a full range of flexible options for selecting what portion(s) of a study will be peer reviewed with optional inclusion of the results into a formal pathology report via our standard pathology report managing system." He went on to say, "We certainly have designed our PeerReview™ module with the same flexibility and scientific functionality as the rest of our systems and, by all the feedback we have received thus far, we have again far exceeded the expectations of our user community."

The PathData® System is the recognized gold standard for preclinical pathology, offering users a complete array of postmortem functionalities - from necropsy and tissue preparation to microscopic evaluation, statistics, table generation, peer review, and FDA-compliant final report generation.

The antemortem aspects of preclinical studies are covered by the company's ToxData® System for toxicology and clinical pathology as well as by the ReproData® System for reproductive toxicology and teratology. All three systems are tightly integrated and form the foundation of the PDS Preclinical Suite of products. The systems are modular and scalable to grow with the users, so they are an excellent option for the entire range of customers -- from single users to global, multi-site organizations. Seven of the top ten pharmaceutical companies use PDS products.
