Originally having an all volunteer staff, the first Habitat house was built in 1990. More recently, the affiliate has been building capacity and hopes to build 8 to 10 houses this year alone. Habitat does not give away the houses that it builds; working largely with volunteers and tax deductible donations of materials and funds, Habitat is able to build adequate housing at an affordable price. Realtors, Mortgage companies, Bankers, Insurance providers, Title companies, Attorneys, subcontractors, and materials suppliers, essentially make up this group.
