MaloClinicSPA

The MaloClinicSPA, the largest integrative wellness centre of its kind in the world, is soon to open at The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel. The centre will offer the most comprehensive array of world-class medical treatments, spa services and wellness programmes in the region. Macao, which is already a popular lifestyle and leisure destination, can soon also add wellness to its list of draws with the opening of the MaloClinicSPA in mid 2009.

Owned and managed by Lisboa-based MALO CLINIC Health & Wellness Group, the MaloClinicSPA aims to offer an integrative, all-inclusive approach to complete wellness, covering seven professional areas -- oral rehabilitation & dental cosmetic, preventive & curative medical care, spa, total beauty, cosmetic anti-ageing, leisure & fitness, and life long wellness. Treatments will be developed and delivered by a team of the highest trained doctors and healthcare professionals in a first class, healthy and comfortable environment.

"It is a brand new concept in Asia Pacific, marking the future of health and wellness", says Dr. Paulo Malo, President of MALO CLINIC Health & Wellness Group. "The MaloClinicSPA merges diagnostic and clinical services with spa treatments and wellness care all under one roof. We aim to provide guests the highest quality wellness service to address their individual needs in a trusted, relaxing spa environment."

"All the amazing offerings at The Venetian Macao make it not only the first fully integrated resort in Macao, they make the building the first-of- its kind anywhere in Asia," said Mr. Stephen Weaver, President -- Asian Region, Las Vegas Sands Corp., "The MaloClinicSPA represents a significant and important addition to The Venetian and Cotai Strip, we are truly excited about our partnership with Dr. Malo and look forward to the opening of the MaloClinicSPA."

Measuring 85,000 square-feet, the MaloClinicSPA will consist of four key areas -- the Clinic, the Spa, the Beauty Salon and a leisure and fitness area. A multi-disciplinary fleet of over 50 medical doctors and licensed healthcare professionals (including dentists, clinical and traditional medical doctors, pharmacists, lab specialists), and 100 wellness therapists (spa therapists, physiotherapists, public health specialists, psychologists, nutritionists, sports & fitness specialists) are being recruited from Asia, Europe and America.

The MaloClinicSPA will be opened in two stages, with the entire facility scheduled to be in full operation by late summer 2009. The Spa and the Beauty Salon will open first in May, followed by the Clinic.

The MaloClinicSPA at the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel will represent Malo's first foray into Asia. "We are thrilled with the potential in Asia, and the opening of this facility represents our foothold into this dynamic market", adds Malo. With its location in Asia's largest integrated resort, the MaloClinicSPA will target a variety of market segments attracted to the extensive range of leisure offerings and facilities of The Venetian Macao- Resort-Hotel. From MICE visitors wanting an executive health check-up while on business, to Macao residents and leisure travelers looking to add a world- class health and wellness experience to their leisure activities, the MaloClinicSPA will provide a wide range of services to rival some of the most established medical facilities in the world.

An overview of the MaloClinicSPA's seven components to complete wellness:

1) ORAL REHABILITATION AND DENTAL COSMETIC

Dental medicine will be one of the hallmarks of the MaloClinicSPA, chiefly because its founder Dr. Paulo Malo is a world renowned dental surgeon, credited for pioneering the revolutionary surgical technique All-on-4 and the fixed prosthesis MALO CLINIC Bridge, both recognised as significant advances in the field of oral rehabilitation (please refer to the Backgrounder).

The dental services to be provided at the MaloClinicSPA include oral surgery, oral hygiene, dental medicine, implantology and periodontology, prosthodontics, pediatric dentistry, radiology, endodontics and orthodontics.

All dental professionals will undergo a one-month MALO CLINIC Education training programme at the headquarters in Lisboa, Portugal.

2) PREVENTIVE & CURATIVE MEDICAL CARE

The MaloClinicSPA will offer an integrative approach of preventive & curative medical care through the powerful convergence of two fields of medicine -- Clinical Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Led by two respected physicians Dr. Jose Sousa and Dr. Antonio Gomes da Silva, the cross-disciplinary team of medical doctors and licensed healthcare professionals will be instrumental in designing the menu of services featuring both preventive and clinical care to ensure the highest standards of excellence. Treatments will be supported by sound medical research to ensure guests receive the best possible care and levels of service. Authentic TCM treatments will be developed and delivered by a team of fully trained and certified doctors recruited from prestigious institutes in the Mainland China.

The clinical specialty areas will include:

-- Internal medicine -- routine health screenings and medical examinations
-- Surgery -- general, digestive (minimal invasive endoscopic surgery), plastic, reconstructive, urological, gynecological, neurosurgical
-- Other medical out-patient services -- cardiology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, oncology, stomatology, paediatrics, physiotherapy and radiology
-- Dermatology -- acne treatments, treatment of hair, pigmentation, mole mapping
-- Traditional Chinese Medicine --acupressure, acupuncture, massage, cupping, herbal medicine

True to its core belief in complete wellness, the MaloClinicSPA's signature health screening programmes, Total Body Assessments, will combine Eastern and Western diagnostic procedures, and dental health.

With six operating theatres, the Clinic will also feature the most advanced medical equipment and sophisticated diagnostic technologies available to date. These include CT Scan, ophthalmologic laser, and digital mammography, amongst others.

A laboratory will provide diagnostic and laboratory evaluations to support the clinical and traditional medical services available at the MaloClinicSPA. This laboratory will be set up in partnership with an established, Macao-based healthcare company.

3) SPA

A genuine approach to wellness will be integral to the spa experience. Complementing the clinical offerings in an atmosphere of relaxation and tranquility, the Spa has been designed to offer a range of experiences from purely indulgent treatments all the way to therapeutic solutions that combine the medical expertise of the Clinic. The Spa is under the supervision of public health specialist Teresa Jenna MPH MA, whose international experience and knowledge brings strong credentials in ensuring integrity of the treatments.

On the cutting edge is the Wellness Screening service, an automated body assessment that measures blood pressure, weight, body fat, BMI, and blood oxygen levels, along with a glucose metre upload capability on a user-friendly, interactive interface. It will be available for all spa guests to evaluate their basic health conditions.

One of the highlights at the Spa will be the Total Body Treatments, half to full day programmes designed for guests to enjoy perfect synergy between clinical, traditional, dental, and healing therapies in one spa experience. A first-class dining experience fusing the best of the West and the East in a delicious but nutritious and healthy way will also be included.

A range of a-la-carte treatments will also be available for guests who may want to treat themselves in between clinic or wellness appointments including facials, body care, and massages. All the spa treatments have been specially designed to pamper, enhance, revitalise and complement rehabilitation and recovery for guests who have undergone treatments at the Clinic. The medical team will receive information on each guest, so they are able to follow every case and provide outstanding quality service regarding the guest's individual and confidential medical needs.

A selection of 58 spa suites will be on offer -- single, couple, deluxe, super deluxe and group treatment suites. All suites will feature private shower and changing areas. To complement the facilities, there will be dedicated hydro suites offering Vichy showers, dry floatation, hydro tubs, and salt floatation services. The separate changing zones for men and women have been designed to offer complete heat and wet facilities featuring experience steam showers, saunas, hammams and vitality pools in different temperatures.

4) TOTAL BEAUTY

In an exclusive zone inside the MaloClinicSPA, the Beauty Salon will offer an array of beauty services to complete the wellness experience in three key areas -- hair, nails and make up. Guests will also be able to schedule private consultations with beauty specialists for perfect styling and total beauty solutions.

5) COSMETIC ANTI-AGEING

In the area of aesthetics and dermatology, the experience and professional knowledge of the surgeons and practitioners determine operational success and deliver visible results. The team of aestheticians and dermatologists at the MaloClinicSPA will receive intensive training by physicians on medical procedures, guest preparation, and contraindications for pre and post surgical treatments.
