Swissport International Ltd.

Swissport International, the world’s leading aviation services group, has renewed its long-term partnership agreement with United Airlines for an additional five years. Swissport International will now provide cargo services for United at eight U.S. airports - adding New York’s JFK airport to its existing cargo-handling agreement. The new accord, whose total annual value amounts to over 550’000 metric tons, further cements the companies’ growing business partnership. Swissport International has provided cargo handling for United at Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Washington D.C., Miami and New York (La Guardia) airports since 2003. Working collaboratively, the companies forged a new customer-based service-level agreement, based on performance measurements and incentives. Dr. Ludwig H. Bertsch, Executive Vice President of Cargo at Swissport International and head of the group’s cargo division, is delighted at these developments. "In a field as fiercely contested as the airline sector, it is far from self-evident that a commission of this scope can be retained over several years," he says. "The fact that we have been able to do so is testimony to the reliability and the professionalism of Swissport, its people and its service product." United Airlines extended its partnership with Swissport to continue offering its customers quality-driven service. "United and Swissport have actively worked to achieve an integrated partnership through operational continuous improvement," explains Scott Dolan, Senior Vice President of Airport Operations and Cargo at United. "Swissport has demonstrated the willingness to embrace United’s quality-driven processes to improve service, retain customers and attract new business. Our new agreement is aligned with our service goals, providing both financial incentives and pay-at-risk for performance on customer-based metrics. This is good for both companies, but more importantly, our cargo customers."
