McCain Administration Will Kill Small Business Programs, Says American Small Business League Popularity:

American Small Business League

There are over 27 million small businesses in America and only one federal agency established to address the needs of those firms, the Small Business Administration (SBA).

Over 56% of all Americans work in small businesses and those firms are responsible for over 90% of all new jobs in this country. If John McCain is elected President, he will close the SBA, the only federal agency in Washington to help small businesses. Senator McCain will end all federal programs developed to assist small businesses and firms owned by women, minorities and veterans.

You only have to look at Senator McCain's website to see a glimpse of the future for small businesses under a McCain Presidency. The top issue on Senator McCain's website under small business is "increased domestic exploration of oil and natural gas."

You would be hard pressed to find even a single small business owner from either political party that agreed "increased domestic production of oil and gas" was even in the top hundred issues that concerned middle class business owners.

Since taking office George Bush has cut the budget and staff of the SBA more than 50%. No other federal agency has seen their budget cut as much as the SBA. Bush even closed the SBA office that assists veteran-owned firms.

Has John McCain objected to George Bush's anti-small business policies? Absolutely not. Senator John McCain has never objected to any of the Bush Administration policies that have dismantled the SBA and virtually every federal program that was established to help small businesses and firms owned by women, minorities and veterans.

A recent Washington Post story discovered the Bush Administration had diverted billions in federal small business contracts to Fortune 500 firms. What was John McCain's response to that revelation? Nothing, he didn't say a word.

If John McCain is elected President, he will close the SBA and end loan programs, contracting programs and every other federal program to assist millions of middle class businesses. Go to Senator McCain's website and there will not be a single statement that would prove otherwise.
