Himfr.com ( / ), one of China's leading B2B search platforms with more than 30 B2B industry websites to its name, reports that China's tool industry has made great progress as it has entered the new century, but there is still a great gap between demand and development.
Modern high-performance cutting tools ( / ), called numerical control cutters, are an integral part of modern numeric manufacturing technology. In modern high-performance cutting tools, high-performance hard alloy cutting tools are the main product.
In developed countries, hard-alloy cutting tools account for 70% of all cutting tool sales volume. And until the end of the last century, China's development in this area has been slow. However, since the new century, with China's manufacturing industry accelerating their pace of modernization, China's numeric manufacturing technology has also seen rapid development. At the end of the last century, China's gold cutting machine tool ( / ) output reached 190,000 units, but only 14,000 units of numerical control machines were produced during this period. Hard alloy cutting tools represented a new entrant into the Chinese market and only held 15% of the market at that time. In 2007, China's numerical control machine production reached 123,200 units and hard alloy cutting tools took up 40.3% of whole cutting tool ( / ) market. From this we can see that in the new century China's numerical control machine and cutting tools industries have seen rapid development.
At present, the modern high-performance cutting tool has been localized in the auto, mold, aerospace, power generation equipment and general machinery industries, as well as other fields. Some of the new Chinese tools' performance has been at or near the international advanced level, helping to break the monopoly that imported cutting tools ( / ) have held for some time, and making great contributions to China's cutting tool markets.
The Chinese tool industry has made great progress in recent years, but compared with the developments in the manufacturing industry, there is still a big gap. The majority of tool enterprises must still develop better methods to constantly speed up the manufacture of modern high-performance tools. The Chinese tool industry lags behind the needs of modern manufacturing, which is illustrated the following ways.
First, the fast development of the manufacturing sector continues to cause processing problems in the areas of quality and efficiency. Because of demand, it is often difficult to come up with timely solutions to these issues. In other words, to solve these problems, companies depend on the expertise of foreign companies and their technology. As a result, our key difference is not only in high-performance tool manufacturing capabilities, but also in the lack of comprehensive capabilities to solve the problems inherent in developing our own modern processing technology.
Second, in recent years, China's development of modern high-performance numerical control machines and cutting tools ( / ) are basically in a imitation stage.
Third, in the area of high-end product development, Chinese companies tend to imitate instead of import, even though it would be beneficial to speed up the pace of domestic development to meet the needs of the manufacturing sector. The resulting disadvantage is that our technology is basically dependent on that of developed countries.
Himfr.com recognizes that China's modern high-performance cutting tool industry is vital to China's sustainable development prospects: It must unswervingly take the road of independent innovation.
