On October 14th, The Children's Aid Society formally launched its new series of podcasts, or short interview programs designed to call greater attention to the agency's positions on issues of importance to New York City's families as well as to Children's Aid's services and programs in a number of critical areas.
The podcast programs are available free to all who visit the agency's website, . The link to the podcasts is easily accessible on the home page. They are also available free of charge on iTunes. The first podcast, "Go!Healthy," explores Children's Aid's innovative approach to helping families prevent children from becoming overweight or obese, and to improving their overall fitness and eating habits.
In addition, the podcast interview with Stefania Patinella, Children's Aid's manager of food and nutrition programs, discusses several agency programs that are introducing new, delicious foods to children and youth who live in communities with little access to fresh produce. Patinella also describes the agency's after-school cooking classes for children and youth at several Children's Aid community centers and schools. In fact, teens at Children's Aid's Next Generation Center in the Bronx have begun a catering company that demonstrates the delicious potential of fresh ingredients creatively prepared.
Children's Aid's Chief Executive Officer, C. Warren Moses, introduces and concludes each podcast. For "Go!Healthy," he notes that The Children's Aid Society has been concerned with the health and well-being of children of low-income families since the agency's founding in 1853, and that Children's Aid has "continually broken new ground" in caring for children and youth.
Please visit to find Children's Aid's new podcast. It is formatted for MP3 players of all types.
The Children's Aid Society was founded in 1853.
