American Humane Certified(TM) will exhibit at the Natural Products Expo East in Boston, Oct. 16 -18, to showcase the fastest-growing animal welfare label for food producers. The program provides independent certification of the humane treatment and care of farm animals.
Natural Products Expo East, held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, is the largest trade show of its kind on the East Coast, featuring more than 25,000 natural, organic and healthy products. American Humane Certified will be joined by representatives of some of its producers who distribute on the East Coast, such as Springer Mountain Farms and Old Chatham Sheepherding Company. All attendees of the Expo are invited to visit American Humane Certified at Booth #2405 to learn about the audit process that verifies humane farm animal care. The American Humane Certified program is not only good for animals, but also good for business and good for people.
American Humane recently announced commencement of a three-tiered audit system that includes video monitoring of producers. American Humane Certified is the first animal welfare organization to use video monitoring as a way to bring transparency, accountability and consistency to the certification of animal welfare. The program has also developed proprietary online monitoring for producers in addition to annual, on-site audits.
American Humane Certified is America's first and original animal welfare program. More than 50 million farm animals have come under American Humane Certified's science-based program. More and more producers are responding to consumer and retailer demand by seeking independent, third-party verification of their practices.
Consumers increasingly are showing concern for how their food was raised. An American Humane proprietary study by Public Opinion Strategies brought forth two significant findings:
-- Of all types of food labels, humanely raised is the most important.
-- Consumers are willing to pay up to an additional 10 percent for a humanely raised product.
American Humane works closely with its independent Scientific Advisory Committee, industry professionals and producers to ensure that industry advancements and best practices are part of American Humane certification standards. Based on American Humane's 131-year legacy of advocating for the humane treatment of farm animals, consumers trust the American Humane Certified label.
