Cardiac Science Corporation

Cardiac Science (Nasdaq: CSCX), a global leader in advanced cardiac diagnosis, resuscitation, rehabilitation, and informatics products, announced today that it completed certification for its HeartCentrix(R) ECG informatics software with the Allscripts Electronic Health Record (EHR).

"Allscripts is a major player in electronic health systems, with more than 40,000 physician clients in some 5,000 health organizations ranging from solo doctors' offices to acute care hospitals. Physicians using Allscripts can now connect to Burdick(R) and Quinton(R) brand ECG devices, cardiac stress systems, Holter devices, and more," said Tony Titus, vice president of marketing, Cardiac Science. "By allowing diagnostic data from our products to flow seamlessly to the Allscripts EHR, this partnership makes both our companies' product offerings more attractive to the markets we serve."

The connectivity between Cardiac Science's equipment and the Allscripts EHR will help physicians streamline the diagnostic cardiology workflow in their offices, eliminate a source of data transcription errors, and provide a unified view of patient diagnostic data. With HeartCentrix ECG informatics, physicians will have immediate access to view or edit a patient's test results electronically and later retrieve the data from the Electronic Health Record.

Cardiac Science connects to Allscripts via the company's Universal Application Integrator (UAI), an innovative application that enables certified device vendors to quickly and easily connect to Allscripts Electronic Health Records.

"This is a big win for Allscripts and Cardiac Science, as well as for our customers," said Steven Tolle, Vice President of Product Management for Allscripts Clinical Solutions Group. "With HeartCentrix achieving UAI certification, clinicians using Cardiac Science equipment can now improve patient care and safety by integrating their devices with our Electronic Health Record."
