Ranpak Corporation

Ranpak Corporation announced today that on February 19, 2008 the Federal Supreme Court in Germany fully rejected a nullity complaint filed by Storopack Hans Reichenecker GmbH, Germany on February 28, 2002. This action upheld the validity of Ranpak's European patent EP 0 677 379. The decision of the Federal Supreme Court is final and not subject to appeal.

Ranpak intends to use this favorable decision to continue to pursue its pending infringement proceedings against Storopack Hans Reichenecker GmbH, Germany and NaturEmbal S.A., France for infringement of Ranpak's European patent EP 0 677 379. This action was filed by Ranpak on November 6, 2000 before the District Court of Dusseldorf in Germany. On May 2, 2002, the District Court rendered a decision in which Ranpak's infringement complaint was allowed against Storopack Hans Reichenecker GmbH and NaturEmbal S.A. The District Court found that the affected products of both defendants literally infringe upon claim 1 of the European patent EP 0 677 379. Both defendants filed an appeal against the infringement decision on July 9, 2002 before the Court of Appeals of Dusseldorf, which remains pending.

"Ranpak has been successfully developing products for the in-the-box protective packaging industry for over twenty years and in the process, obtained and continues to obtain, numerous patents globally," said David Gabrielsen, President & CEO of Ranpak. "This decision reaffirms our intention to fully and vigorously defend our properties around the world against all who intend to shortcut the product development process."

Ranpak Corporation is a privately held manufacturer of environmentally superior, paper-based protective packaging systems and products, including PadPak(R), FillPak(R), AccuFill(TM), and AutoFill(TM).
